Purpose

The purpose of the journal is to provide an international electronic forum for the stimulation and dissemination of research concepts and theory relating to the sociological examination of sport, physical education and coaching. The journal publishes theoretical and empirical papers, critical literature reviews and conventional book reviews. Analyses from diverse and complementing methodological paradigms are encouraged. sosol also incorporates a section for student (undergraduate and postgraduate) research, thus giving aspiring publishers an insight into potential future dealings. Papers submitted for publication under this section must be first authored by students. sosol will be published bi-yearly.

sosol is based at the School of Physical Education, University of Otago, NZ.

Review process

A blind peer-review process is used to evaluate manuscripts, which will take 8-10 weeks. Manuscripts are read by 2 reviewers, and will be evaluated on methodological rigour, topical relevence, critical content and clarity of expression. Manuscripts should not be submitted to another journal simultaneously, nor should manuscripts have been published elsewhere in similar content or form. Submissions will not be returned to authors, therefore copies should be retained by contributors to guard against loss.
